English 1310
First Year English-First Semester
Upon completing English 1310, students should be able to draft, revise, and edit an essay in which they demonstrate the following skills: the formulation of a thesis; the
organization of a logical argument; the development of unified, coherent paragraphs composed of clear, effective sentences; and the command of an appropriate vocabulary. These skills represent a basic level of competence; subsequent English courses, along with the entire college curriculum, should maintain and extend the skills taught in English 1310.
